    Hi all,
I was just wondering if there is any labs in this exam, I mean simlets etc.
Also if someone could please let me know if Test Inside (T.I. 5v.71) is enough to prepare for the exam or do we need the Pass4sure questions as well.

    I appreciate your help
    cheers.

    Hi,

I took CCDA exam last September and got 1000/1000. I do recommend reading CCDA quick reference guide, its like 60 pages that summarize the entire CCDA course.

I used P4S and others. I forgot the versions though. I will try to find out and post it here this weekend.

Is it possible to pass the CCDA without looking over P4S?

    Hey M;
I’ve studied some of documents about 640-863. And also took a look up the questions on TI v5.71 (128 questions). Do you really think that TI is enough to pass? I’ve downloaded some of P4S versions but could not find the passwords or cracks for them. If you’ll give GA, i’ll trust you and will take the exam immediately. Thanks to advise. Brgds

    @ Neptune : You write
    Codec: G.728
    Bit rate: 16 Kbps
    WAN Bandwidth: 256 Kbps
    Packet Header: 6 bytes
    Payload: 40 bytes
    CRTP: Yes
And give an answer not very well explained.
Since I recently studied CCNAvoice exam certification guide, and I really understood all of it (with the help of ch1 of ONT book) let me post a thorough explanation.
I suppose that the voice sample is 20ms duration (they usually are 20 or 30 ms, that means that the amount of information of 0.02 or 0.03 sec of human voice is sampled and quantizized according to the codecs specifications, then the next 0.02 sec , then the next…). Since the G.728 codec functions in such a way that it only needs 16000 bits /sec to carry its information (it is smarter than the G.711, needs less bits to “say” more) the information of the 0.02 sec of voice needs 16000*0.02=320bits=40 bytes.
So instead of giving me (well the question did it, not you!) the payload as 40 bytes, you could give me the sample size as being 0.02 sec.
So these 40 bytes are at the application layer, and need to be packed and encaptulated (UDP/RTP, IP, layer 2 ). So we have cRTP so we add 4 bytes (we should add 40 bytes , 20 from IP, 8 from UDP and 12 from RTP = 40 bytes total if we have no compression). I suppose that the 6 bytes you mention as packet header are the layer 2 header (it should be from a frame relay, if it was ethernet it would be 20 bytes according to CCNAvoice book)
So our packet is not 40 bytes now , as it is ready to get transmmited in the wire, but it is
40+4+6= 50 bytes, and it still carries the information of 0.02 sec of voice.
So since we initially needed 50 packets of 0.02 sec duration to send, to fill a second of human voice, we still must send 50 expanded packets (that they no longer carry only bits concerning digital audio information, they now also carry bits concerning headers).
That means we must be able to send 50 packets of 50 bytes size per sec.
2500 bytes/sec are necessary for our phone conversation (in the download direction and another 2500 bytes/sec in the upload direction).
    So that is 2500*8=20000 bits/sec = 20kbits/sec.
So if our total bandwidth is 256kb/s (for download and another 256 upload) this bandwidth can sustain 12 calls (and leave some 16 kb/s for data packets)
I hope this made it clear to you boys and girls!

Is there any CCDP site available like CCDA?

  17. Rameen
    December 6th, 2010

    Hi Everyone,
Just passed the CCDA exam, scoring just a little short 987/1000.
Test inside is still valid, anyone needs it you can download from the below link
Exam is still available until April 2011

    Test inside link
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KSZJA695

I found all Drag and Drop questions in this great site apart from one new one apart from one of them about the Wan technologies.
it is easy to guess the answers if you have read the Cisco press CCDA exam certification guide.
I was confused with one option and that being which Wan technology reserves the bandwidth and does not release it when required, ( I dont remember the option well)
I ticked TDM but could be wrong, other options were Sonet and Dwdm
Apart from that the rest everything is here on this site.

I suggest to everyone to read the CCDA book, do all the chapter questions and then test yourself with Test inside, If you you read the book thoroughly you will answer most of the questions anyway, and then visit this great site and do practice the Drag and Drop questions.
I wish everyone taking exam good luck and would like to thank Dstut for all the help provided here.
    Cheers.

4 out of the 5 Drag and Drop questions were valid…

The PPDIOO drag and drop was not on the exam, but the other 4 were…

There was a new one on Managment – so brush up on these

    MIB
    SNMP
    ATM
    Cisco Works

    Hi The Dude,
there is at least 4 drag and drop, I got all that is on this website plus one about Wan technologies, Sonet, ISDN, ATM, TDM DWDM, modem.
They are easy to guess if you have read the book. See my comments above.

@vobesh: Most things if not all on this site should suffice. If you can get your hands on TI v 5.71, it will help you greatly… check for the link somewhere in this forum…. All the best

The 640-863 CCDA exam expires April 30, 2011, which I assume this site has questions for. Cisco does have a new exam, 640-864 for CCDA that was introduced Dec 16. But, until April 30, 2011, you can take either exam to get CCDA.

passed this evening with a 949/1000.

read the Cisco press book, did the questions, studied the questions here and used the testinside engine.

I had 5 drag and drop questions, the only not listed in in dstut is the WAN one.

As long as you study the book, the questions listed here, and can reason logically, you will pass.

Now I am on my way to CCDP…then CCIE…

    Good luck to all…

I Passed 640-863 with 1000 score…2 voip computations and 3 drag and drop. no new drag and drop.

I used the quick reference sheet and the official book

  46. anan
    January 15th, 2011

what do you mean by 2 voip computations can you plz give me alittle info on it

  47. Potzu
    January 15th, 2011

those voip computations are the number of calls using g.711 (pcm) and g.728 codec, given the wan bandwidth and the payload. if you don’t know how does the answers were derived, you will just memorize the answer. but those problems have different approach of solving, since they are using different codec. try to revisit some electronic communications book like the books from tomasi. i used those book aside the official books from cisco press and the quick reference.
