Hey Guys. I went for an exam and failed with 760+ using this version of .vce hxxp://depositfiles.com/files/yjm217l8q. It was one new D&D (very long choices) and a few new MCQ’s. But mostly everything is in .vce so it’s just the matter of making sure the answers are correct. So it’s almost solid a bit more love and care and it would be good.

@Bookworm .. sorry to here that .. you are 2nd person who did not make it I have heard in last two weeks one of my other friend at work wrote and he dint clear either .. this looks like a worm spreading to everyone .. I am planning to write this week .. lets see how it goes.

How many questions come from the latest AT 260Q PDF and .vce ?? any questions from old Anderson.vce 640-863 ?? can you brief little more on the DND and questions that you got ??

Thanks in advance, better luck next time.

@kk Take a look at .vce I used I would say 95% of questions came from there and probably about 10-15 questions were different from old Anderson 642-873 vce. One new D&D, with three from this .vce. So I would be only concern with last section of this .vce which has about 20 question which I didn’t find references for and they might have wrong answers, other sections I either cross-referenced with guide or old Anderson’s .vce (you’ll see either page # from guide, word guide or vce). So I hope you’ll clear it up next week.

    August 4th, 2011

Guys .. I finally sat for the exam today .. did not clear it .. 710/100 .. had total of 55 questions .. 4 DND all from AT , about 25 Ques from dumps .. rest all new .. about 5 questions on Nexus switch and Virtualization/VMWare , couple of questions on FCoE, iSCSI and NAS.

Also I observed couple of new options were there in some of the questions from the dump.

My suggestion will be if you not booked your exam, I would say wait for 2-3 months till the right books, reading material and proper dumps are out ..

Best of luck for all ..

I was taking this exam a couple days ago. I am failed.. 750/1000. 3 month of reading… this is sad. I have no idea what is wrong. From this point it’s remember me a TSHOOT exam.. Btw, during exam I have seen a “single-choice” question with 2 right THE SAME answers. So, I guess, anyway to answer this question – I am wrong.
PS. Don’t give up all. May be need more accuracy and patience. All be right!

    hi bd !

the questions were the same: hxxp: / / http://www.examcollection.com/cisco/Cisco.ActualTest.642-874.v2011-07-30.by.METALMX.244q.vce

    many different questions?

  24. BookWorm
    August 4th, 2011

@bd Hey Man, Don’t worry on TSHOOT I saw 3 absolutely same questions all with R4 being in question, I’ve picked what looked right and passed ))) But it was an only exam for a long time which took me the whole time available… I think with 642-874 we’re close I failed with 760+. As I said a bit more love and care and it will be a solid .vce Good luck to all.

    @ccnp2011
Don’t know. This site not working on my computer today. Anyway.. a lot of questions are from actualtest 5.0 (5.5) 642-874. This is good, but… main trouble – it is really hard to find right answers for some questions (in official docs and books) ! Btw, latest VCE answers are not 100% valid, a lot of mistakes. I think, need to wait some weeks for more accurate VCE and read more :)

    August 4th, 2011

@bd the only reason I said 2-3 months is because there is not even proper study guide , CBT training materials available in the internet yet for 642-874 . Trusting only with dumps is more of taking risk .. little reading from the book especially on non routing and switching areas like storage, VMware , FCoE would help a lot even if we get questions out of the dumps ..

Trust me Cisco is playing very smart these days … they are quite aware of the fact that lot of ppl used dumps and pass the exams .. its not easy anyone more .. some amount of self preparation and book reading is much needed.

  29. BookWorm
    August 4th, 2011

@kk It’s definitely better to read a guide but if you have a solid dump, it’s more of a preference. If it works for you by all means do it. But I would not imply that it’s needed. I agree 100% that the only reason that we didn’t pass it yet – absence of proper guide and materials available, but it’s just a matter of time. Keep up good work guys, we’ll get there.

    August 4th, 2011

    @kk
When I said about 3 month – it was not about your comment :) It’s about me, I’am reading about 3 month for this exam. Everything you said – totally agree. Dump is good ONLY as last step of preparation. Thus try to find any gaps in memory before exam.

Hi kk & BooWorm – Can u guys 4m ur experience @ t exam correct or list t qns which u feel r wrong in t VCE, which wud be of gr8 help 4 ppl like me who r plannin 2 take t same….thanks in advance guys….
@send – I do not have t Rough cuts…searched most of t sites i check regularly but in vain :(…

  32. BookWorm
    August 5th, 2011

@Sri Take a look at last section of the vce I used, those are the ones I didn’t find any reference for and feel shaky about. Also on safari Rough Cuts are to be published in Nov’11 so that’s might be the reason why you couldn’t find it. hxxp://depositfiles.com/files/yjm217l8q.
Other sections could have wrong questions as well but at least I cross-referenced them with apparently solid 642-873 .vce from Anderson. Good luck.

Anyone get the drag and drop that asks you to match up layer 2 recommendations with requirements (not the simple UDLD/Etherchannel/Trunk/STP one I’ve seen everywhere, this is a new one, MUCH harder)? Or the VMWare & VSS questions they’re asking now?

Here is new D&D I haven’t seen before:
    OSPF process with convergence step:

    i.CEF
    ii.SPF throttling or pacing timers
    iii.Bidirectional Forwarding Detection
    iv.LSA Propagation/throttling/pacing/Timers

    match with

    a.Detect the event
    b.Propagate the event
    c.Process the event
    d.Update forwarding data structures

    In answer it goes like this (I’m not sure if it’s right) : ii-a iv-b i-c iii-d

@Galtar I think I know which one you’re talking I’ve seen it on exam but it was log and I didn’t remember. I Hope did and would share it.

    QUESTION NO: 19

In base e-Commerce module designs, where should firewall perimeters be placed?
    A. core layer
    B. Internet boundary
    C. aggregation layer
    D. aggregation and core layers
    E. access and aggregation layers

    Answer: D

I think should be A.. If you open “Designing Cisco Network Service Architectures (ARCH) v2.0” Volume 2 page 50 in PDF (7.40 in the book) – on the scheme a Base Design of e-Commerce module, and a firewall only in the core..
If “aggregation and core layers” – this is a Two Firewall Layers Design, I guess.

    QUESTION NO: 22

When is a first-hop redundancy protocol needed in the distribution layer?
    A. when the design implements Layer 2 between the access arid distribution blocks
    B. when multiple vendor devices need to be supported
    C. when preempt tuning of the default gateway is needed
    D. when a robust method of backing up the default gateway is needed
    E. when the design implements Layer 2 between the access switch and the distribution blocks
    F. when the design implements Layer 2 between the access and distribution blocks

    Answer: F
WTF? A and F are the same.., or not?)

  41. Galtar
    August 14th, 2011

@bd I got that same question and that’s the comment I left for Cisco on the exam “WTF?!! Cisco, the answers are the same” I get the feeling they don’t read them…

  42. Sri
    August 14th, 2011

    @Galtar, @bd
Option A – access arid distribution blocks
Option F – access and distribution blocks

May be Cisco can also do mistakes which is a Typo and also make sure that we dont mug t answers 4m t dumps!!!
    Its just my thought ….

    @Bookworm or any1 who has written t exam…What do u think is t correct answer…
    AT5.8 – QUESTION NO: 19
In base e-Commerce module designs, where should firewall perimeters be placed?
    A. core layer
    B. Internet boundary
    C. aggregation layer
    D. aggregation and core layers
    E. access and aggregation layers
As per the figure in Page 318 it shows Firewall in the Core layer only.
From the CCDP-ARCH Book- 2nd edition, Page No: 318-319, the below lines are seen
“Core layer supports the first stage of firewalls” – which should mean t perimeter firewall.
The aggregation layer supports connectivity to the SLB devices or firewalls, in routed
mode. – Which indicates to another firewall for the LAN segment, to protect the various internal VLAN’s / Zones.
I would go for the Answer as A – Core Layer….
    Kindly suggest/advice….

So, I think, If they say about “Base design” – here a firewall only in the core. That is it.

    August 16th, 2011

@bd – Wat did u mean by Copy-paste for you?? I have taken the exact wordings related to the question from the book… :) I had just used the question under review for ppl like me 2 get the correct answer!!!
Wish all good luck if choice A – Core Layer is the correct answer!!! :)

  50. bd
    August 16th, 2011

    @Sri
This mean that I wrote already about question #19 few days earlier here. I am done copy-paste (wrote again) my previous post.
Anyway, I guess answer A is correct. Because in “Base design” a firewall is placed only in the core level.
