    for Q9 D it says route reflection or confederation eliminates “any” full mesh requirements which as victor said is half true, still partial full mesh requirement is needed, I will probably will go for C and E if C said ” Routers will not advertise iBGP learned routes to other iBGP peers. ” not “learned router” unless D and E

    I would say Q42 will fall under IP addressing and routing solutions part

  9. Kash
    August 26th, 2011

    where in the study guide it sayd i think its not C read question carefully it is to confirm where the range can be summarize its not asking how to summarize … got my point

  10. Pedram
    August 26th, 2011

    From ARCH student guide volume 1 page 163:

    A block of summarizable addresses:
    •Has N sequential numbers in an octet
    •Has N as a power of 2
    • Has the first number in the block a multiple of N

    Example: Is 172.19.160.0 -172.19.191.0 summarizable?
    – 160 to 191 is a range of 32 numbers in a row.
    – 32 is 2 to the fifth power.
    – 160 is a multiple of 32.
    – Conclusion: Yes, 172.19.160.0 -172.19.191.0 is summarizable.

  11. Pedram
    August 26th, 2011

    it exactly says “There are 3 steps to confirm whether a range of IP address can be summarized”

  12. Pedram
    August 26th, 2011

    I think base on this explanation the C is clear answer

    i bought P4S but used AT 5.8 all the exams matterial is same .

    August 26th, 2011

    bd’s answer for the etherchannel D&D is correct. Got that one and answered it the same. Agree with Kash, but I got about 80% from the first 60 questions. There was definitely a few from the later questions too. No wireless, so I don’t think you need to look at that. I also purchased P4S, but it was nowhere near as accurate as the AT 5.8 in terms of questions covered. Kash scored about 20 more marks than me, so you can listen to him, obviously.

  28. gyrop
    August 26th, 2011

    @Kash. Got that question with the two exact same answers too. I couldn’t figure out what the difference was either (as there wasn’t one) and I picked B (access switch rather than access module like in the two same questions). None of the answers seemed a 100% right, though.

    @Kash

    Congrats! so happy to hear you passed. Did you get Q42 and Q14?

  31. Kash
    August 27th, 2011

    My only suggestion is to
    search all OSPF, BGP and EIGRP questions in AT 5.8 and work out answers to that again .

    any one bought P4S go back to P4S and make clame that there product is bad and didnt help we need money back or exchange option

    @Pedram….
    Q2 C,E are correct…T question asks for both IPS and IDS with 2 choice – ie 1 option for each and for choice E, refer Page 392of self study…I am in the process of making a PDF with AT5.8 wit t notes and references..
    @Kash, bd – Kindly confirm on the same

  36. Pedram
    August 27th, 2011

    @Sri
    I won’t bet on that, C,D are stated word by word on ref, more than that same ref page 391 says “Typical scenarios include placing the sensors at the perimeter of the network outside a firewall where the network is most exposed” which makes E completely wrong. Also it is not a force for choosing 1 for IDS and 1 for IPS!

  37. Pedram
    August 27th, 2011

    same page 391 specifically about IDS: “Some environments deploy an IDS outside the firewall to assist in event correlation and to determine the effectiveness of the firewall.” E is wrong, no doubt

  38. Sri
    August 27th, 2011

    @ Pedram – did u c thats a note only!!! Its just for reference only :)

  39. Pedram
    August 27th, 2011

    @ Sri, I cann’t get your point! that’s a note only?! note means something you should notice!! what about the paragraph right above that?! “Typical scenarios include placing the sensors at the perimeter of the network outside a firewall”

    you can go with your choices, Kash and bd also scored 67% in security part means somethings are wrong on that parts and this one is one of them, I would say.

  40. Kash
    August 27th, 2011

    hi guys , @ sri
    It is virtually impossible any one who passed will put that much effort in it , U just look at page 3 and 4 a detailed discussion Me victor and Pedram some other guys

    on page 4 i put my final thing
    As far as question 2 is in concern CE is correct as it is asking about both.

    Q4 might be wrong on AT as i already told Concentrate on routing u get 90 %

  41. Pedram
    August 27th, 2011

    @Kash,
    Q2 I will not go for that, again C,D stated word by word in ref, E is clearly rejected by ref, I can see any force for being 1 choice for IPS and 1 for IDS

  42. Pedram
    August 27th, 2011

    I meant I cann’t see any force for … “intrusion detection and prevention solution” stated in Q is regarding the name of exact chapter in ref not to force you choose one on each part

  43. Kash
    August 27th, 2011

    true concerning intrusion detection and prevention solution

    I have done IPS design paper , when we put IDS outside the Firewall is to understand what type of threats we are facing as an organisation but those alarms from the IDS have lower priority as mose of those traffic are actually blocked by Firewall.

  44. Pedram
    August 27th, 2011

    @ Kash

    Only thing I can add to Q2 is even if we consider E as a correct answer, there are three correct answers and I will go for C,D as they are clear in ref. and one other question why you choice C over D in IPS part? (if consider such a force in Q which I don’t) they are both true.

  45. Pedram
    August 27th, 2011

    and the reason you put IDS outside the firewall is to “assist in event correlation and to determine the effectiveness of the firewall” not to consider all its log for taking action against security policies
